INTRODUCTION

Dayfil Tablet is a medicine used to treat high blood pressure in the blood vessels that supply the lungs (pulmonary arterial hypertension). It relieves breathlessness and improves exercise capacity in men and women. This slows down the progression of your illness.

Dayfil belongs to a group of medicines known as phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE 5) inhibitors. It may be taken on an empty stomach or with a meal, but it should be taken at a fixed time each day. The dose and how often you need to take it will be decided by your doctor so that you get the right amount to control your symptoms. Follow the advice of your doctor. It is important to take this medicine regularly and for as long as you are advised, even if you feel well. Missing doses may lead to the worsening of your condition.

The most common side effects of this medicine are flushing and headache. If they bother you or if you experience any other side effects, talk to your doctor. They may be able to help you reduce or prevent the side effects.

This medicine can be dangerous to take along with medicines called nitrates (often given for chest pain). Do not take this medicine if you have severe heart or liver problems, if you have recently had a stroke or heart attack or if you have low blood pressure. Dayfil Tablet belongs to a group of medicines called PDE5 inhibitors. It works by relaxing the blood vessels in your penis. Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Dayfil Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Dayfil  Tablet is a phosphodiesterase (PDE-5) inhibitor. It works by relaxing the blood vessels in your lungs thereby reducing the high blood pressure in the lungs. This allows your heart to work less to pump blood in your lungs.

Dayfil Tablet is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies.

Breast feeding

Dayfil Tablet is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.
Use of Dayfil Tablet is not indicated in women.

Driving

UNSAFE

Dayfil Tablet may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.

Kidney

SAFE IF PRESCRIBED

Dayfil Tablet is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Dayfil  Tablet is recommended.
However, inform your doctor if you have any underlying kidney disease. A lowering of dose may be considered if it is not well-tolerated.

Liver

CAUTION

Dayfil Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe liver disease. Dose adjustment of Dayfil Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
There is limited information available on the use of Dayfil Tablet in patients with severe liver disease.

Use of Dayfil Tablet is harmful for patients taking nitrates or blood pressure-lowering medicines as their combined use can cause a severe fall in blood pressure, which can also result in death. However, if these medicines are to be taken together then it is advised to keep a time gap of 24 hours between the intake of Penegra and blood pressure-lowering medicines.

Q. Why does Dayfil Tablet cause a fall in blood pressure (hypotension)?

Dayfil Tablet has the property of relaxing the smooth muscle of the blood vessels and widening them which can cause a fall in blood pressure (hypotension). So, when used with blood pressure lowering medicines or nitrates, it can cause a severe fall in blood pressure, which could be fatal. Dayfil Tablet should not be taken if you are taking nitrates for chest pain or you have a history of heart attack or stroke in the past 6 months.

Q. Is Dayfil Tablet safe to use in patients with diabetes?

Yes, if prescribed by your doctor then Dayfil Tablet is safe to use in patients with diabetes.

Q. Can I take Dayfil Tablet as often as I want?

No, do not take Dayfil Tablet for more than once a day. If you take more Dayfil Tablet than the recommended dose then you may experience an increase in side effects and their severity. These side effects include flushing, headache, muscle pain, stomach upset, allergic reactions and vision changes such as blurred vision. Contact your doctor if Dayfil Tablet does not help you to get an erection, or if your erection does not last long enough for you to complete sexual intercourse.

Take Dayfil Tablet about 1 hour before you plan to have sex. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Inform your doctor if you feel the effect of  Dayfil Tablet is too strong or too weak.

Q. Can I drink alcohol while on Dayfil Tablet?

Drinking alcohol can temporarily impair your ability to get an erection. To get the maximum benefit from Dayfil Tablet, it is advised to not drink excessive amounts of alcohol before taking Dayfil Tablet.
